For a long while there was really one thing to do with a monster: kill it. This update opens the other half of the world. Whatever path you walk, you can now take up a trade, and the trades run deep.
Learn your craft
Your calling shapes what your hands can make.
A Rogue has the most to choose from. Higgle the bankers of Mileth and Rucesion for parcels of goods to sell on, polish rough gems up through the grades to a small fortune, and temper one-handed blades keener at the forge.
A Warrior takes the heavier steel. Shay keeps a forge in Tagor and will teach you to smith two-handed weapons, and there is armour to be tailored lighter and stronger besides.
A Wizard studies with Dar at the black-magic tables in Mileth: brew a smokey sphere, read the secrets locked in a relic, set finished gems into earrings, or inscribe a scroll that carries you home. Out in the field, a Nadurra necklace lets you draw the raw elements from wells, fireplaces, trees and dirt, and burn them back into mana when you run dry.
A Priest learns to brew the red revival draught, so a fallen companion can rise again before the skull claims them.
And anyone who learns a little herbal lore can work the flowering tiles of the Enchanted Garden. With a cloth glove and a bottle of wine you can coax out remedies: a draught that heals you whole, one that draws poison from the blood, one that steadies you against terror.
Every trade draws on your Labor, a quiet allowance that fills back up on its own each day, so crafting sits beside the hunt instead of swallowing it. Work with a partner beside you and the results come easier and safer. And the book you were handed when you chose your path now names the trades open to you, and points you toward where to learn them.
Work in Mileth
The mundanes of Mileth have things they need doing. Cian the grocer is studying what spoils and wants something properly rotten carried up from the crypt. Dar wants a darker sort of artifact from those same low floors for his own quiet research. And in the restaurant a mother sits with a gravely ill child, hoping an Aisling who knows herbs can bring her a cure. None of it takes you far, and all of it pays.
A new look
A Rogue with a steady hand can now restyle or dye a friend's hair on the spot. Stand beside them, pick the cut and the colour, and the scissors do the rest.
Go and make something.
